Help me name my kitty!

I got a new cat the other day. She's about a year old, with pitch black fur and copper eyes. Very much like a panther. She's very sweet & affectionate, but also has that air of mystery and darkness. I've been wracking my brain trying to think of a good, feminine, *unique* name for her.

Any ideas are welcome!

Cat Takes on Bear and Wins

X-posted... b/c its too funny!

http://tinyurl.com/o5w6r

A New Jersey woman says that a neighbor's 10-year-old clawless tomcat chased a black bear up a tree in her backyard.

Patricia Giovanetti told the Star-Ledger of Newark, N.J., that in the first encounter she watched between Jack the Cat and a bear, the bear was up a tree and Jack was standing his ground, giving the bear the eye. After a 15-minute standoff, the bear climbed down and quickly dashed into the underbrush with the cat in pursuit.

The bear found another tree and climbed up. Jack kept watch for a few minutes before joining Giovanetti and the cat's owner, Donna Dickey, allowing the bear to make a hasty escape, the Star-Ledger said.

Giovanetti and Dickey have decided that Jack considers their yards and the one in between his territory and is not about to let another animal in, not even the black bears that are increasingly common in Northwest Jersey. Giovanetti said there have been times when Jack, not always a friendly animal, has made her nervous.

"Sometimes, I fear him," she told the newspaper. "Now, I think I fear him more."

good healing love for my Luna

It's the craziest thing, last night I had a dream about one of my cats, Luna. She is staying with my mom currently, since i just moved. This morning my mom called to tell me that Luna had spent the night at the vet hospital. She was attacked by a racoon. 25 puncture wounds and a cracked pelvis. She has been outside for a lot of her life, but must have finally met her match. She crawled through a neighbors backyard and across the street back to my mom's yard where her dog found her and barked till my mom came out to take care of her. My brave angel, Lunabelle!
She's in the hospital at least a few more days. :-(

Leslie,

Thank you for starting this tribe! It's a good venue for us who just love to talk about or brag about our fur babies! My cat is the one named Belle in our photo gallery, and when I have a bit more time, I will add her story to the thread you started as hers is a very interesting one!

She is an incredibly intelligent cat. She is my velcro kitty and I take her to work, and she is never more than a few feet, if not ON me, when we are together. She sleeps near me at night and her purr lulls me to sleep. That is where I'm going now...to be lulled to sleep by beautiful Belle. :)

Sig and Belle :)

Mine is about my cat Big Red. He had a squirrel friend. Every morning about 7am, Red would run to the window and there in the tree was the squirrel. It was looking for him. He would get excited and meow at the squirrel and want to go out to play with him.

When I let him out, he and his buddy would take turns chasing each other back and forth across the yard. That was pretty amazing. What made it even more amazing is that they resembled one another. Big Red is a large, furry long haired orange cat with a big fuzzy red tail, just like a squirrel's.

They played every day for some weeks. I began to suspect that there was some interspecies confusion going on. Something like the squirrel thought Red was a giant, particularly ground-loving squirrel and Red thought that the squirrel was a very tiny, particularly agile cat.

This came to a head one day, when things got particularly surrealistic. Luckily I had my camera to record the whole bizzare incident.

The squirrel was in heat and was lolling about in the tree making goo-goo eyes at my cat. It was also shaking it's tail in what might have been orgasmic spasms of desire. And for some reason it's nuts (no pun intended, you know what I mean!) were really huge, well, for a squirrel - they had swelled up to about an inch and a half to two inches each!!!.

Well, Red seemed sort of interested. The squirrel jumped onto the telephone pole and worked his way down to nearly nose level with Red and they sort of squared off. Each one, no doubt, wondering, now what???!!! Needlesstosay, it didn't work out, and squirrel friend soon found better, more appropriate playmates. Maybe he even found a GIRL squirrel, as Big Red was, in addition to being feline, also a male (a neutered male, at that.)

Do you have a cat tale to tell? I wanna know all about it!

Cucumbers, mandarine oranges out of a can, potatoes, broccoli, cooked carrots, stewed tomatoes, corn chips, soy beans,. pineapple, rice crispies...the list goes on and on!

I was raised with dogs and cats and they pretty much not only got along, but seemed to really be fond of each other. Does anyone have any cute pictures of this?

I've heard where cats will even make friends with pet mice and rats...just make sure you don't forget to feed Puss, I guess, LOL.
