Mine is about my cat Big Red. He had a squirrel friend. Every morning about 7am, Red would run to the window and there in the tree was the squirrel. It was looking for him. He would get excited and meow at the squirrel and want to go out to play with him.
When I let him out, he and his buddy would take turns chasing each other back and forth across the yard. That was pretty amazing. What made it even more amazing is that they resembled one another. Big Red is a large, furry long haired orange cat with a big fuzzy red tail, just like a squirrel's.
They played every day for some weeks. I began to suspect that there was some interspecies confusion going on. Something like the squirrel thought Red was a giant, particularly ground-loving squirrel and Red thought that the squirrel was a very tiny, particularly agile cat.
This came to a head one day, when things got particularly surrealistic. Luckily I had my camera to record the whole bizzare incident.
The squirrel was in heat and was lolling about in the tree making goo-goo eyes at my cat. It was also shaking it's tail in what might have been orgasmic spasms of desire. And for some reason it's nuts (no pun intended, you know what I mean!) were really huge, well, for a squirrel - they had swelled up to about an inch and a half to two inches each!!!.
Well, Red seemed sort of interested. The squirrel jumped onto the telephone pole and worked his way down to nearly nose level with Red and they sort of squared off. Each one, no doubt, wondering, now what???!!! Needlesstosay, it didn't work out, and squirrel friend soon found better, more appropriate playmates. Maybe he even found a GIRL squirrel, as Big Red was, in addition to being feline, also a male (a neutered male, at that.)
Do you have a cat tale to tell? I wanna know all about it!
